Notes from Jim Fisher, KD3O
3905 Century Club, Inc. Eyeball QSO 1
In August 1978, the 3905 Century Club, Inc. held its first Eyeball QSO in Bowling
Green, Kentucky. Everyone of the 25 stations and their families enjoyed it and those
of us who didn’t make it, wished we had.
The Eyeball QSO 1 coordinator was Alice, WA4RRR, a long time club member.
The Eyeball QSO 1 Booklet was dedicated to Lynn, WA1KKP, and Bill, WA2LWU, both
Handi-Hams during the get-together.
3905 Century Club, Inc. Eyeball QSO 2
Plans were begun almost immediately for Eyeball QSO 2. Bowling Green was again
chosen for Eyeball QSO 2-East because of the convenient facilities and its near
central location for the east and Midwest stations. Eyeball QSO 2-West was held
at a ranch on the Wind River near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We underst
and they also had a fine and enjoyable weekend.
On the weekend of August 11 & 12, 1979 Eyeball QSO 2 became a reality.
Needless to say, Eyeball QSO 2-East was a great success with
41 stations, 37 of these being active on either or both nets, in attendance.
3905 Century Club, Inc. Eyeball QSO 3
Again, it was decided to hold Eyeball QSO 3 at Bowling Green, Kentucky
in August 1980. In attendance this year were five of our club officers.
This year the Eyeball QSO 3 Book was dedicated to four of our club members.
Bill, WA2LWU, Keith, WD4ROD, first 2-Term elected president, Bill, WA2ZYM,
who for many months did a two man job as secretary and received the club’s
annual service award, and Tom,WD4CQY, who was very instrumental in organizing
the Century Club and the incorporation of it in the state of Florida.
There was also invited, a Special Surprise Guest, WB4KCG, Ronnie Milsap
however he was not able to attend because of business matters that came
up at the last moment so he did have the courtesy to send the club members,
that were friends of his, a letter of apology for not being able to attend.
(A copy of that letter is attached).
3905 Century Club, Inc. Eyeball QSO 5
The 3905 Century Club, Inc. Eyeball QSO 5 was held at Rock Candy Mountain,
Dogpatch Arkansas on August 13 - 15 1982.
Not much information furnished on this Eyeball, but I believe Letha,
KA5HFB, was the club’s coordinator for this one. Not certain though.
